Great hike! Very dog friendly and well shaded. We took some detours that made the loop much longer.

Great trail in the city. awesome calorie burn uphill the first mile or so and then varying the rest of the way. Muddy but that’s to be expected just make sure you wear hiking boots. Dog friendly. Pay attention because the trail switches 3-4 times. Really almost five miles from parking area.

This was a great choice for a hike today - almost all of it in shade! There are still some very muddy areas - particularly on the Firelane - but that will dry up with some warm weather. True to AllTrails form - it was about 0.6 miles longer than what the app says!

Today my boyfriend & I hiked from the Germantown Wildwood trailhead to the Springville Road (Firelane 7) trailhead. We also did the offshoot Ridge Trail to the St John’s Bridge viewpoint before proceeding to Firelane 7. It was a dry, warmish, day. It having rained the day before there were significantly muddy sections. A few early trilliums are blooming. All and all a beautiful hike with green mossy trees & mushrooms if you look closely! Note, the way back up the Ridge Trail is steep!!

It should go without saying that this trail, along with almost every other trail in the upper Willamette Valley in January will be muddy. And it will probably be raining. That stated, the trail was well marked, offered a great balance of uphill/downhill/coasting spots. I met two dogged trail runners, and one lady with a very happy puppy. Other than that, it was a light rain, light breeze at the top of the ridge, and a whole load of tranquility and peace. Highly recommend (esp midweek/offseason).

mid January around 12pm. this other way up ridge trail is much better elevation gain for those that dont want to go up the stairs and other trail up. it was really muddy on most of the trail so you just have to be careful especially going down. Also the fire road part of the trail was probably the muddiest because its flat and collects more of the water. pretty good tree cover while it was raining today. and there are lots if trail runners and people with dogs so be prepared to stop and let people by. Also this is a combination of trails so we accidentally followed wildwood trail to far but not bad, just follow the map. good elevation gain training.

Dry today. The initial climb and final descent are some work, but the rest is worth it

Nice section of Forest Park to walk or run on, much less busy than other parts. Definitely download the map if you want to do this route as it takes several different trails and it’s easy to get turned around.

Nice section of Forest Park's Wildwood Trail, and associated views from the elevation, with easy access from Portland proper via Ridge Trail. Hats off to the City of Portland for Forest Park!
