A quick hike up for a 360 degree view of the high desert. It's a quick mile each way from the base to the summit, short enough that there's a kiosk showing the trail running times to get to the top. Once you reach the top, there are views of all the Oregon Cascades and the surrounding high desert.

I got lucky and was the only person hiking Pilot Butte. Beautiful views of Bend and the surrounding mountains once you reach the top. Easy hike. Highly recommended. Dog friendly.

Great hike. It was pretty windy and our baby freaked out on the way up so we didn’t quite make it to the summit.

Always a good one if you like incline/decline hikes...even on a rainy and windy day. The trail is currently free of snow/ice, except for just a small, easily avoidable patch here and there on the northern side.

Nice trail. Harder than an easy rating to summit. Can’t drive to top due to road closed for winter. Good views.

Great hike! Hiked on TG day- lots of snow from earlier this week. It was cloudy so I knew I wouldn’t see anything at the top- but it was still a great hike overall. Nice to be able to do some hiking despite the snow! There is a restroom at the top. 4-stars due how close this is to everything and a good workout despite the clouds & how short the hike is. Look forward to returning on a sunny day!

Only gave it 3 stars because it was shorter than I like, but it’s actually a really good “quickie” that offers a pretty good incline and spectacular views - which allow you to see all the way up into Washington on clear days. A good trail (the nature trail side, not the paved side) for fast hiking up with a descent run on the return- you can get up and down in less than 30 minutes if you are in decent shape.

Nice hike with a pretty view from the top. It's a little steep though. If your not in shape you will definitely feel it going up.

Great little hike. Mostly uphill (obviously). There’s two options, you can hike the side where it’s gravel or the road where vehicles will go alone side you. I personally preferred the natural route. At the top you get a 360 degree view of Bend and it explains each mountain you’re looking at. This trail is also great for dogs.

Nice little hike up a Butte that's centrally located in Bend, affording excellent 360° views of major PNW peaks and hills. Went for a sunset, great views. Gets crowded on the top, but the trail was all right. Started back down right at sunset, and reached the parking lot in 20 mins with enough sunlight to spare.

Great little sunset hike. Stopped by to see my cousin who died (Trent Taylor)'s bench about 1/3 of the way up. Gets crowded at sunset!!!

Perfect trail that with views of all the surrounding mountains near bend. Done on a clear day, the sights are amazing. The trail itself is not overtly shaded or included, but the point of this hike is to see put into the distance.

This was a short fun little hike, at the top you can see all the different mountain ranges around Bend! We ran/walked up the road trail and back down on the trail! Great quick little workout!

I live right nearby so I have the opportunity to climb it regularly. From the trailhead, if you stick to the walking path instead of the road, it’s a steep incline for a while. But once you can see the football field of the nearby school, you’ve made it past the strenuous part. Take in the scenery of the Three Sisters to the west and the further mountains to the north. The last bits up the path can be slippery: the red rocks sometimes act like marbles under your feet so take care. If you want a steady climb with no surprises (and somehow less scenery?) take the road path instead. Or mix it up and take one up and down the other! PS: If you play Pokémon GO, there are lots of Pokéstops and gyms on the waking path. Great opportunity for tons of research.
