This is one of five beautiful little trails that can be explored in the Painted Hills. Short and sweet as it is, this one is actually the second longest trail, after Carroll Rim Trail. It also offers some of the prettiest views of the colorful hills. Kid-friendly, easy jaunt.

Nice trail, overlooking the painted hills, other trails which go closer are nicer though imho

Easy walk but go early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the scorching sun.

This is a very gentle trail with some close views of the hills. The flowers were in bloom and it was beautiful at sunrise. If you’re hiking the area start here for a nice easy warm up

Probably the best on-trail views of the Painted Hills as a whole area. Love the benches, and the different perspectives that the trail offers!

Beautiful area. Easy well made trail. The only thing that would make this area better is if they connected all the trails into one big loop trail.

Amazing view. Not a hike. A stroll to the mail box really but.... worth it just take it in. Enjoy the silence( if your fortunate enough) we were there for an hour today with no one but us.

I loved the views, the hills are really impressive and even if it is not a proper hike (the trails are really short), all the trails together give you the impression of a larger hike.

Hike is really easy but the view of these hills is amazing. You have to see these with your own eyes at least once. Would rate 5 stars if the hike was an actual hike or more of a challenge.

Surely one of the most unique hills I have ever seen. Best view on sunset.

Much more of a walk than a hike— good for families and individuals of any skill level. Really beautiful place

Short stroll with great views of the layered hills.

This is more of a destination for taking in some amazing views than it is a hike. Best to go early as it’s a popular spot and is more enjoyable with fewer people around.

The painted hills are more of a little walk/hike. The landscape is stunning and unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Definitely worth the drive! (August 2016)hik

Short but sweet. Stop in at the sidewalk cafe in the small town of Mitchell and get a yummy milkshake while you are out there.

I wouldn't call the half mile walk a hike by any means but had the best view of the Hills of any I'd seen

So beautiful! Totally recommend everyone to go here. If you are thinking of camping near John Day stay at Clyde Holliday State Park.
