2.5 stars. Short and underwhelming. Didn't die of dysentery. :) The history is cool but it takes more effort to get here than is really worth it unless you big Oregon Trail buff. Not much to see and the trail just ends at some barbed wire fences. It's not even clear it ended, there isn't a sign. Extra half star because the drive from Weiser was very pretty.

This is Birch Creek Interpretive Site, featuring real Oregon Trail ruts. The BLM has a PDF map of the site. It's essentially across I-84 from Farewell Bend State Park, accessed via a 1.5 mile gravel road. Definitely not your usual hiking trail! There's history here.

Super short interpretive trail that ends at a fence. Not far off I-84 to stretch your legs real quick.

A short trail with a few interpretive signs at the trailhead describing conditions at the time, very historic as you can still see where the wagon rims marked the rocks
