This is an easy, mostly flat hike along the Salmon River. For never being more than 100' from the road, it feels remarkably remote. There are multiple camping sites along the trail right along the Salmon River. This trail would be a good one to hike with kids and use as that first "backwoods" experience with them since it's an easy trail with multiple, flat campsites and the entire length is close to a road. Note: This stretch of the Salmon River is closed to all angling.

Great trail if you want to get away from the crowds. Mirror Lake was packed and you couldn’t even park anywhere so we came here to get out of the snow a bit. Easy trail, only a little muddy in spots but totally worth it. We actually walked the road back because it was covered in snow which made it seem like a whole new trail. Only one car passed us and we only saw 9 people the whole time! Very peaceful hike.

Mostly flat. Incredible patches of old growth cedar and Douglas fir. Lots of nurse logs and moss. The river sings sweet songs all the way and the smell is earthy.

Hiked this trail a few days ago. Very nice hike. It wasn't too terrible being overweight. A few trees to climb over. Views were gorgeous. It was raining the 1st day, so there weren't a lot of places to take a break and be dry. Trail was well maintained and didn't see hardly any trash.

Good hike in the shade of an old growth forest. It follows a river and has multiple access points for you to go down and sit by the water. Went on Labor Day afternoon and it wasn’t crowded.

Beautiful hike that has tons of nice little spots where it meets back up with the river. Would be great for swimming on a hot day. This would be fun for small kids. One of the tags on AllTrails says “camping” but there are many “no camping” signs at the trailhead and along the road.

Cool hike that I’d definitely recommend. Feels remote and has great views of the river the hike winds along. Very pretty and green.

The trail was very flat and easy. It winds alongside the river and there are opportunities to cross the river.

Very serene, peaceful trail. Lots of kids and dogs. Not hard at all- so if you are looking for a challenge, do a different hike! But it was perfect for a family hike.

Great easy trail for small kids. Well travelled... saw lots of people and dogs. There was a porta potty at the trail head, and theres some nice spots to get to the river and just hang out and take a swim.
