Unlike most trails in Forest Park this one is open and sunny most of the time. This is the maintenance road for the power lines, although not very regularly maintained, so it feels like a trail. It is very steep in places and the gravel is a bit of a slipping hazard. The view of three mountains (Rainier, St. Helens, Adams) is about a 1/3 of the way from the bottom.

Good trail to build endurance and condtion on.

Although not a particularly difficult hike all around, it starts going straight up for a while (straight down on the way back) on loose rocky terrain. Next time, I will stretch first. Nice views and satisfying hike so close to Portland. Totally worth it.
