This is a great trail and no crowds! Started at the cape lookout campground day use parking lot and continued all the way out to the point of Cape Lookout to make it a longer hike. The North Trail is well maintained and takes you through some real rain forest where you can see some large Sitka Spruce trees. Highly recommend this for a nice hike.

This is one of 3 trails starting at the cape lookout trailhead parking lot. The hike starts to the right. It’s an immediate decend, but you are walking thru forestry and lots of roots. That means coming back be prepared for a slight incline to return. Halfway thru the trail you will reach a suspension bridge and after that nice coastal views as you reach the beach. The tide pools are fun to explore and we found about 6 full sand dollars. This trail is definitely way less trafficked than the cape lookout hike.

Great hike, first .75 miles is descent, so that’s what you have to climb to get back out, but it’s not too steep. Lots of tree roots to navigate, little bit of mud, but no bugs and great weather. Cool suspension bridge mid trail and the beach at the end was lovely. The crowds were all on the cape lookout trail, so I encountered maybe ten groups on my entire out and back, and that’s on a Sunday in July. Would definitely do this trail again!

Great hike. If you’re reasonably fit and keep a good pace you should be done in ~2hours with some wandering on the beach. Loved the forest portion and then a nice beach. No one around today so it was great to have it all to myself. Two dogs, navigated it well. Pretty muddy though for the first 3/4 if a mile.

Magical! From the luscious green forest out to the beautiful Oregon coastline.

There are two other trails available at the same spots (south trail and cape lookout I believe) Beautiful scenery at the end, I recommend to visit this place when it has been sunny and dry for a few days, because the trail gets pretty muddy at some spots and in addition, wear the boots that would have a good traction

Combine this trail with the Cape Lookout trail to get about 10 miles and 2,500' in elevation gain. The trails on the Oregon Coast are beautiful. Just look at the photos and get out there.

Beautiful hike! The elevation is not accurate on the description. I believe it is half of what it states, probably around 1100ft.

Thought there would be more vista points but the stars of the show were the giant trees and overgrowth on the trail. Some muddy spots. Overall, a great elevation focused coastal trail!

Great view tricky at the top when lots of people are present. Trails were muddy but view is worth it.

I was happy to find a relatively dry trail in February after s very hard Winter. There was one part with a little bit of a scramble up the rock with a small stream but that could be due to the season. A good uphill hike with stunning views.

This is the longest of the three trails available at Cape Lookout State Park. It was a beautiful hike, despite the cold rain of a November day, Awesome old growth trees and switchback trails eventually provide a scenic view of Netarts Bay and the coastline.
