From Eugene or Springfield drive south east on Hwy 58 for 49 min (41.6 mi if counted from Eugene Bus Station). Turn left to Westfir, turn left again after the bridge and drive until you see a red covered bridge on the left. This is Office Bridge (built in 1945), the longest covered in Oregon. The trail begins from the parking lot. Easy, picturesque. Willamette river North fork of the Middle fork accompanies the trail, intermittently getting closer and farther. Alternatively, at Office Bridge one can turn right, drive north east on Aufderheide to the bridge on road 1912 and hike from that end of the trail.
