A fun ascent of Mt. Scott, the highest point of Crater Lake. You'll have amazing views of the lake below.

Excellent late summer hike even with wildfire smoke. Moderate rating but easy for seasoned hikers with a mostly level trail and gradual incline. Energetic school-aged kiddos could do this trail. Interesting flora if little fauna. Beautiful views and a diversity of colorful minerals to see. Wildfire tower was locked up but USGS medallion was easy to locate. I didn't see one human soul on this hike in mid-August. Surprising.

Beautiful hike located within Crater Lake National Park. Excellent views of the entire lake. You can see Diamond Lake and Mt. Thielsen off in the distance.

Amazing hike! Somewhat intense but doable climb.

Beautiful views. Don't forget this is in the national park, so being $15 to get in the park. It was cold and windy at the trailhead and sunny and warm during the hike and at the top. Not hard, gradual incline up. Took me 45 mins to get to the top with a steady pace. Highly recommend!

loved the trail. We were the first ones to hike it the morning of 10/8/2017. we started at 9:55am. It was cold and there was fresh snow on the ground. the trail is easy and well defined. The views are amazing from the top.

Beautiful views of the Lake. A little windy at the top, but worth it.

Absolutely worth the climb! Get a shot of the USGS markers as proof you made it to the top.

A must-do hike in Crater Lake Nat'l Park! Prepare to move a little slower than usual due to the elevation, but slow and steady and should be no problem. Hiked to the top of Mt Scott in July 2016 around the Independence Day holiday, and it was still cold up at the top even in the summer (bring gloves, jacket and hat if you plan to hang out at the top). Snow could still be seen in spots throughout the park but wasn't an issue on the trail. Trail is well groomed, and the top offers a panoramic view that you won't be able to get anywhere else in the park. Afterwards, and not too far away, is Umpqua Hot Springs, if you're up for a soak in a natural hot spring. Beware - Issues this Summer (2017) with wildfires, so do your research before going.

Amazing hike with awesome views of the lake. There was a big forest fire which dampened views of the lake but otherwise an must do in crater lake!!!

Nice little hike! Took us under two hours and it was quite fun. The only downside was that it's so smoky we couldn't see the lake.

It was cool to be at the highest point in the park. Bring your poles if you have them. It gets a little steep. And bring a jacket! It was chilly at the top.

Pretty easy for as good as the views of the park are. I would work it in to your trip to Crater Lake.

Great view on the top with thousands of butterflies

Amazing views from the top. I did this in July of 2016 during a multi day trip to Crater Lake. The trail itself is pretty easy to do if you are in shape, but it is at a bit of a higher altitude and there is not much shade. Bring water. I would recommend doing this hike early in the day , and then driving down to the lake itself later on. You can even use the viewpoints from Mount Scott to pick locations to visit afterwards.

Great hike that included 360 degree views of the whole Crater Lake area. Sign at trailhead say 2.5miles to the top. The first half mile has a few spots with snow but besides that the rest of the trail is snow free. Not too hard of a hike for someone in decent shape but it's not easy for the average tourist. There is a lookout structure at the top which was closed. Went up in the evening and saw a handful of other groups. Definitely recommended when visiting Crater Lake. The entire Rim Dr is now open also.

LOVE this hike! One of the best payoffs out there, killer views. Go early - beat the crowds and the sun (not many trees to shade you) - and this will be on your list of favorites.
