Easy hike along McDowell Creek with lower and upper views of Royal Terrace Falls and Majestic Falls. Visitors to the crystal clear water of McDowell Creek will be rewarded with the beautiful vistas of Royal Terrace and Majestic Falls from the bridges and viewing decks along the hiking trails of this lush green park. The McDowell Creek Falls offer exceptional scenery with places to stop and enjoy a picnic lunch. Some fishing and wading is available in the pools below the falls. The trail itself is easy, and great for families.

Went up Friday and it was nice. There were just a couple of places of mud. Bridges were slick due to how cold it is up there. Also realize there is not much sunshine due to tree coverage so keep that in mind as winter hours are here. Allow yourself time through the trail to make up for darkness early and also the fact the sun is on the other side of the mountain by 1ish.

It was pretty muddy, a little slippery in some areas but not horrible. It’s an easy hike if you go the right way. (Made a mistake and went backwards.) overall, very beautiful waterfalls and the stairs are really cool.

This trial was fantastic! It was very shaded and wasn’t too hot, but because of all the moisture it was very humid. I’d definitely recommend doing this early in the morning or later in the evening. It was fairly steep and a little rocky. Also, if you head right at the beginning of the trail to go up the stairs, you’ll eventually reach a fork in the trial as you go up the loop, if you want to follow the trail on the app, go right. If you head left you’ll head back down the mountain and eventually end up on the road and you’ll have to follow the road down a bit to find the next portion of the trail. Other than going left instead of going right at the fork, the trail was just fine otherwise.

a Good hike

Trail was kinda lame... Nothing much to see. Good for excercise but not much else. The elevation gain is rapid so if you're disabled or very young, this trail is a bit more moderate than easy. I recommend just parking at the top, checking out the falls then going down the trail to the road and back to the parking as there isn't anything else to see unless you are looking to go eat berries, ginger, and wood sorrel/sour grass.

The stairs were steep and slippery as it had rained recently. The trail was mostly wide enough for two people side by side. Bracken, ferns, skunk cabbage, salal, and thimble berries along the trails. The falls were okay, but disappointing to someone that has hiked much of central Oregon.

drove over an hour and hd never been there or heard of it before and it couldnt of been more worth it! i think i started at a weird point or something but at the bottom there was some mini falls/pools under a bridge with some bathrooms, map and tables..would be super cool spot to camp/swim in too. i had 2 kid who made it just fine. steep slick steps tho.

This trail is beautiful! Just moved to Oregon and haven’t been on any “real” hike in the mountains previously. This is a great first hike because of the loop. Some parts were more difficult due to steeper steps and narrow paths, but the views and waterfalls are breathtaking. This app helped a lot to make me stay on trail. Amazing!

Beautiful hike! We did clock it at just around 2 miles. Just stunning, we did go mid morning on a Saturday and past about 30 or so hikers.

This is a favorite at any time of year. There are always waterfalls, although especially intense during the Spring. I have successfully taken my dogs on this hike, altho there are plenty of other dogs which can cause a fair amount of excitement. Be sure to sneak around and down to the lower falls and step into the rocks for a closer view, and possibly a picnic.

Easy, quick, scenic hike that leads to two different waterfalls. Summer is definitely more enjoyable and lush but winter was still beautiful. Some areas were a bit overgrown causing narrow pathways. Stone stairs are quite steep next to the larger falls but easily maneuvered.

If you enjoy the overlapping sounds of gurgling stream, trickling creek and splashing falls combined with the sweet smells of pnw forest and the sight of sunlight peeking through deciduous leaves and moss, this is a great little jaunt for you. An easy little hike for the family. I can't wait to bring mine here in August and take advantage of the multiple wading holes. As stated, the trail is a smidge overgrown in spots but a brush with nature never hurt anybody. happy trails!

Nice trail and park- fills up pretty quickly on the weekends so the earlier you arrive, the less crowded it'll be. Currently, it's a bit overgrown in some spots as others have mentioned.
