Great where urban hiking is concerned.

Pretty cool little trail if you’re tight on time or just need some fresh air. Easy, well marked and not very trafficked during weekdays.

A beautiful walk. Great views. We followed the trail to OHSU and took the tram down.

This is a beautiful urban trail which, for the most part, is quiet and peaceful as it switchbacks to the summit. It does intersect with neighborhoods so do expect some noise at those points. It was a good cardio workout and a great way to spend a couple hours!

Great vertical climb with a view payoff. Even if the overcast tempered it a bit.

Awesome view at the top! Love that the trail is heavily shaded in summer.

Started at the Oregon Zoo to Patton Road then came down to the PSU Farmers Mkt!

Great for a quick, moderate hike if you’re staying in the city and want to get exercise done to get back to the breweries. The view at the top is beautiful and the acoustic, stone circle is very cool to stand in the middle of and listen to the echos.

Mud and ice in spots. Very few people on the trail. Cold and windy, especially towards the top. Nice view at the top!

Great trail system in the middle of the SW Hills of Portland. Good climb, shady forest, and not too crowded during the week. Council Crest has an off leash area so your dog can romp and play.

Amazing view of Mount St. Helens & Mount Hood. If your looking to see the sunrise, not the trail to go on, but the nature and view will take your breath away.

Steeper than expected, but great off leash dog park at the top and amazing views of multiple mountains on a clear day.

Great hike when you're itching to go out, but don't have time to leave the city. Head on up see the famous view of Portland from Council Crest.

Easy hike, just be ready to be hiking in the outskirts of the city.

This year I'm exploring all the hidden hiking gems within Portland and the surrounding area. There are so many places I've never been though I've lived here all my life. This hike was one of those experiences, and I enjoyed it greatly. I chose a low traffic time, so I don't know how crowded the trail normally is. There were just a few others braving the steep climb up and quite a few more enjoying the park and view at Council Crest at the top.

First time trail running down this path was thrilling!

It was definitely a city hike, but it was fun. I would say it was an easy hike.

Muddy this time of year, but a nice trail. Fun little bridges. There are paper maps at the trailhead and I was able to extend this trip quite a bit. There are several trails that connect to this one. Not too crowded. Occasional urban camper; no one bothered me.

Great trail, I wouldn't go as far to say it's "Moderate". It wasn't a difficult hike. nice scenery and once I got up to council crest for the first time, the views were great I soaked them up for a couple of hours before I decided to hike back down.

The trail itself was ok... nothing to right home about. The view from Council Crest was beautiful, but pretty crowded!

This convenient, but heavily used, trail in the West Hills near downtown Portland leads to the iconic Council Crest Peak. On a clear day there are great views not only of the city, but also Mt. Hood, Mt. Saint Helens and Mt. Adams.
