As of April 07, 2020, users have reported that Wildwood is closed 3 miles in for maintenance. Please consult the park's website before visiting. Beautiful mature Douglas Fir forest with lots of Vine Maple and fern undergrowth. Crosses many creeks, steep canyon drop off, lots of forest shade, not very crowded. Access via Saltzman Rd, from either Skyline Blvd or US Hwy 30.

I really enjoyed the Firelane 4 section to my surprise because it offered a change in scenery and even glimpses of a nice view. Otherwise wonderful forested trails. There is a fair amount of elevation gain making for a good workout. It was fun to complete two routes in one and finish just before dark. A section of the Maple Trail as well as a section of the Wildwood Trail are or will be closed for maintenance soon. Check park website for details before planning a long hike. most trails are still open. There are alternate routes to get around the closed sections. I can see why some would say Firelane 4 would be nuts when muddy. It has been dry and warm for several days, so the mud compacts into clay-like form and strength and wasn't a problem. Thank You Jesus Christ for dying on the cross for our sins and rising again to demonstrate Your love for us and Your power over death. Lovely hike in His creation today. Happy Easter everyone! There is always hope!

2 awesome creeks with bridges. Not too muddy. DO NOT under and circumstances take fire lane 4 back to the starting point. Oh and wildwood is closed 3 miles in for maintenance.

The majority of this trail is amazing. Beautiful forest park with streams and bridges and natural beauty, even in the winter. However, several of the trail splits were incorrectly marked causing us to have to backtrack in order to stay in the path. One trail (the Quarry trail) was completely wrong and did not exist where it was marked on the map. Lastly, the last half to third of a mile is a muddy 45 degree slope you’re pretty much required to just slide down on your butt. I would really like to try this trail again in the late spring or summer when everything is dry. I am sure it would be a 5 star trail at that time.

We didn't even hike it, after 20 minutes of going forward and backing up on the 1 car width road playing chicken with the other cars, we fled from sheer anxiety. This is a hiker caused issue, the public should accept a general 5 car parking rule so there's room to get around. I don't even think half the people we were playing musical cars with were staying, just trying to get away.

Great trail. Lots of fall colors. Make sure you take a look at Mt Rainer, Mt St Helens, and Mt Adams from the road before you get to the trailhead. I started with the fire road - it was a little steep and muddy. But the rest of the trails were well packed dirt or gravel. Lots of shade (and a little cool.) would definitely walk these trails again

Found blackberries along the way!

Really nice trail that was normally not overgrown but a couple spots go little tight maybe want to wear pants or something like that. Some sections didn’t have any traffic at all as was indicated by the spiderwebs it ran across the trail happy to have my water bottle to knock them down so I didn’t have to get all over me.

Great trail! There are some parts with overgrowth on the trail, but they are far and few between. Wear long pants and you'll be fine.

Lovely woodland trail practically in the city, best walked on weekdays to avoid crowds.

Great way to start the day!

First thing to deal with is no real parking, especially if it’s a crowded day. The trail itself was cool, however we did see people living in a few spots off the trail. Seemed like a sketchy place to hike alone.

Maple is a beautiful trail, but NW Saltzman is just a small gravel road. Nothing pleasant about that. The fire lane for the last stretch of the loop is, honestly, miserable to hike down. Steep, very, very bumpy, dirt decline that one could easily twist an ankle on or worse. Nothing much to look at song this stretch which also features views power lines overhead. I'd strongly recommend plotting an alternative route back to the trailhead.

This really shouldn’t be labeled ‘Easy’. The last little part basically follows a power line and is strait down. It was pretty muddy as well, although we just had a huge rain storm. It was a great trail, though. A bit hard to know exactly which direction to turn sometimes because there can be up to 4 options and the signage isn’t that great. There were not many people, so it was nice and quiet. I would definitely recommend it, but maybe when it’s a bit drier and not for someone who is recovering from an ankle fracture =)

Loved this hike. The trail crosses over many streams of water. With dense moss covered tree views. Only took a star away because the trail sings were difficult to make sense of.

Great trail, didn't see a ton of people, nice and quiet. And not far from the city!
