Steep hill to start you off but a great hike!

The Molalla river recreation area is great for hiking! Just make sure you check the trail map before heading out. The trails are partly well marked but not so much the further in you go! Beautiful area running along the Molalla river.

Quiet - few people around this morning (though clearly this trail is used more for horseback riding than for hiking! Plenty horse poop.) The starting point is from the Hardy Creek trailhead; you can cross the road before or after for river access, but you won't see the river during the hike. The trail names at the parking lot board and along the way are different than shown on this map, but the loop is easy to find, trails are nicely maintained, and it's a nice spot. Shady and cool for summer, not heavily trafficked.

It was a very nice easy hike, made our way to Annie's cabin. Then went up to the top of the trail it was wet when we went and the trail was muddy and slippery in spots. Did not read the sign that said closed for bikes and horses but open for foot traffic. We were hiking and had the whole area almost to ourselves we did not do the route we wanted we could have if I just read the darn sign. Oh well it was still fun and not too hard at all. The trail head could be marked a whole lot better other than that nice easy hike nothing to out hard they were doing trail maintenance and making a new trail so the map I had was out dated.

The upper (northern) part of S. Molalla Forest Road is blocked with a gate. I'll try to get in another way another day.
