We got lost. Wear long pants if you plan on tackling this trail. The sandy parts are not well marked, which caused us to end up in someone’s backyard. Thank goodness we had this app or we might still be lost in the woods. We ended up making it to the New River before getting lost, but you could not see the beach. The trail to the river was packed with these bushes with the stickiest thorns. Someone had recently been there to do some minor trimming; my legs are marked up. We did get some great exercise and we do have a great story to tell our kids.
Nothing spectacular. A nice little walk but impossible to get to the beach. We made it to new river with a 4 year old so any adult should be able to make it to where you can at least see the ocean.
The first part of this trail had spurs to view Lost Lake and it was very good. I'd rate that part 3-1/2 but then the trail just goes into dunes so the sand march is on. Not so great and for that part maybe a 1... Then the sand march goes into untrimmed thickets which weren't very nice at all... That part was probably a -1 and got me to turn around which is very, very rare. If you do this one carry some loppers or trimmers with you so not only you will enjoy but anyone else who does the trail will appreciate it greatly.
