Butt cheeks beware! There is a lot of incline on this one. I followed this exactly as it’s laid out and my Fitbit watch said it was 16.7 miles, so 1 mile longer than All Trails has it. You get 360 degree views because your essentially circling the mountains. About 6.5 miles of the total is walking from the parking lot to the Little Grayback Trail (3.62 miles) and from the gate on Upper Applegate at the end of the trails back to the parking lot (2.83 miles). The most dangerous part of the entire hike is the walk back to your vehicle on Upper Applegate. Use the All Trails app to GPS yourself when you get close to the connecting trails. The transition from Grayback to Trail 918 is not marked. When you get to the point of transition, go left and you’ll see a trail with a very steep decline that leads to a road that you can clearly see. The road is Trail 918 and it will dead-end at the Baldy Peak/Mule Trailhead. When you reach the next transition from 918 to 919, make sure you veer left. When you get to the bottom there is a sign that says Mule Mtn, veer right and it will take you to Upper Applegate Rd. Hope this helps. Happy hiking!
