Irish Bend Covered Bridge is a 2.3 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Corvallis, Oregon that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, and road biking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
This paved path tours the OSU agricultural research areas and passes through a covered bridge before giving a great view west. The path itself is called the Midge Cramer Path, starting from Campus Way. Wonderful year-round hike, flat paved asphalt trail that takes you through several Oregon State research fields. Midway through the hike is a historic Benton County covered bridge that was moved to this location and rebuilt by community volunteers. This is a popular lunchtime walking spot that is available year-round. Always a fun hike during the lambing season when the new baby lambs are being born and running around. Portions of this trail are along roadways. Wearing bright colors and using flags or lights is always recommended for safety when sharing space with motor vehicles. Accessibility: There are 3 designated handicapped-accessible spaces in the large paved lot to the east of the trailhead by the Crop Science Building. All of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles. The trail surface is paved asphalt, smooth, and typically at least 10 feet wide. The estimated grade is gentle (all 3% or less), so this trail will likely be navigable for most wheelchairs/mobility equipment or strollers.
Public access on Oregon State Universary Property
Watch out for bikes, this paved ribbon is a major bike route to the western Corvallis neighborhoods.
There are two ways to access this hike. The first is to park at the Oregon State Univerary Lambing Barn just off of 35th Street. The other is to park at the Benton County Fair Ground just off of 53rd Street. Trail is paved asphalt.
The trail is great for biking. The bridge is unfortunately closed right now but it has great views and is moderately busy.
No shade and hot for my dog but otherwise I nice walk. Pretty busy on a sunny afternoon
Did the “loop” for scouts definitely longer than 12 mi. We cut off the corner through campus and was still 12.5 miles. Nice paths and walk.
Flat and not very exciting but paved and good for a drizzly day. If it’s dry you can do more exploring at Bald Hill.
