Horse Trail is a 3.9 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Corvallis, Oregon that features beautiful wild flowers and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail.
Single track hike through old growth with 850 feet of climb From the orange gate follow Jackson Creek approx 1/2 mile then take a right onto a single track trail that is graveled. This is Horse Trail. You will climb a steep open area into the trees and then continue climb following the switch backs through the forest. About 1/2 way up you will cross the 612.4 dirt road and the trail will be marked on the other side. The trail continues to switch back till your reach the 600 or Patterson Road (gravel). This is where the trail ends and this is your turn around point. There is another trail on the otherside of the road that continues to the top of hill, but this last part is not an approved trail by OSU Forestry Department. This trail can be muddy in the winter and early spring.
Parking at this trailhead is no longer permitted. It's heavily posted with signage that specifies access to the Jackson Creek Gate is only allowed by foot or non-motorized vehicle. All vehicles should now park at Chip Ross.
