Not a great trail for ‘trail running’. Paved and steep inclines and declines. Beautiful views, especially with leaves changing colors. Tough run.

The downside to walking this is there is a LOT of bikers. But, it’s a beautiful and easy walk with many scenic stops to view the Columbia River and cute waterfall near the beginning. I take my 3 kids out on this often and they love it, just have to keep them close due to fast bikers.

Wonderful walk after lunch with our two dogs. Shaded paved and not many people on the trail. Great parking for our truck and trailer and a small $5 fee for use. Bathrooms at the start of the trail and a picnic area. Walked 3 miles total and the views were amazing over the River.

One of our favorite bike rides in the Gorge ☺️ We walk it now and then too!

One of my favorite jog/walk areas in Hood River. Wonderful views and easy inclines.

Gorgeous is one word to describe this trail! The views of the Columbia River are breathtaking! The trail is wide and paved from start to finish! Most of the time the whir of traffic below is nonexistent due to the beautiful trees that serve as a natural sound barrier. When the vehicle noise is present, it makes me appreciate the opportunity to break away from life and enjoy God’s creation that much more.

Beautiful trail along the scenic Columbia Gorge. It was a bit cold in January...but a beautiful crisp clear day.

Ok, would be a nice bike ride. I just walked for a few miles then turned around. Most of the views were blocked by trees.

My three kids and I love this ride. Especially the bridge. It’s easy for my youngest who is just off training wheels. Amazing views and an easy ride.

Nice trail. Mostly shaded for the majority of the trail. We had our mountain bikes and pulled our son on a trailer, it was quite a bit of work but felt good after finishing!

Great little walk, but I have ran into rattle snakes multiple times. Keep dogs leashed due to snakes and a lot of bikes.

Go here quite a bit with the dog...has amazing views and the tunnels are fun to walk in. Lots of lookouts to take in the beautiful Columbia gorge! The only thing is, Watch Out for Bikes!! They come in fast and do NOT slow down (most of them anyways). It is a very wide paved trail so always be sure to stay on the right side as well as your pet! You don't want to get run over! :-/ I find it best to hit this trail as early as possible, less bikes the earlier you go.

The east first few miles are more scenic. Lots of snow in between trailheads during winter means you're better off with snow shoes although is still hikable, my shoes did get water in them. The tunnel is great and worth seeing, so I recommend starting on the eastern side. Pretty flat the whole way. Follows a highway so you always hear traffic.

Great for a family ride!

The tunnels are cool and the trail is long enough to make a day of it with a picnic. Dogs must be leashed and they are strict about it. $5.00 day use fee. Camping nearby. Pretty ride or run.

This is a great route between Hood River and The Dalles. It is much less busy than the ride by Crown Point in the west end of the Gorge, but offers very similar sweeping vistas. This is not an easy ride, as there are some challenging and long elevation changes. Fun going down, but rough climbing up. Overall, with the views, pretty hard to beat.

Gorgeous scenery along the Historic Columbia River Highway. Listed for mountain bikes, but it's all paved road, so really, a road bike is more than sufficient for this trail!
