Love this trail. It’s perfect for me. Nice mix of uphill, rolling, and downhill terrain.

Great little walk, but I have ran into rattle snakes multiple times. Keep dogs leashed due to snakes and a lot of bikes.

Go here quite a bit with the dog...has amazing views and the tunnels are fun to walk in. Lots of lookouts to take in the beautiful Columbia gorge! The only thing is, Watch Out for Bikes!! They come in fast and do NOT slow down (most of them anyways). It is a very wide paved trail so always be sure to stay on the right side as well as your pet! You don't want to get run over! :-/
I find it best to hit this trail as early as possible, less bikes the earlier you go.

The east first few miles are more scenic. Lots of snow in between trailheads during winter means you're better off with snow shoes although is still hikable, my shoes did get water in them. The tunnel is great and worth seeing, so I recommend starting on the eastern side. Pretty flat the whole way. Follows a highway so you always hear traffic.

Great for a family ride!

The tunnels are cool and the trail is long enough to make a day of it with a picnic. Dogs must be leashed and they are strict about it. $5.00 day use fee. Camping nearby. Pretty ride or run.

This is a great route between Hood River and The Dalles. It is much less busy than the ride by Crown Point in the west end of the Gorge, but offers very similar sweeping vistas.

This is not an easy ride, as there are some challenging and long elevation changes. Fun going down, but rough climbing up.

Overall, with the views, pretty hard to beat.

Gorgeous scenery along the Historic Columbia River Highway. Listed for mountain bikes, but it's all paved road, so really, a road bike is more than sufficient for this trail!

If you're going to ride this, and you should, avoid on weekends if you don't want to deal with dog owners who believe the leash rules do not apply to them.

I'm a novice biker, so any trail that is wide, paved and mostly flat is my kind of bike trail. Add some tunnels and great views and it becomes pretty much perfect. If you're planning to walk it, feel free to leave your hiking boots at home. A nice pair of flats will suffice.

Not my kind of "hike" having a paved path that is cleared of all of natures unforeseen obstacles. Other than that, this walk is super easy. I did from Hood River Trailhead all the way in to the town of Mosier which actually turns in to 6.1 miles for the 12.2 miles round trip. If you only go as far as the tunnel from Hood River then you are only traveling 4.5 for a round trip of 9. This is simple enough that young children just learning a bike could easily handle or the older folk who really should not be on an un-kept trail. The views from the tunnel area are great of the Gorge. Would I repeat this hike? Simply for something to do. NOT for the challenge of it.

Not really a hike per se but rather a nice long walk. A couple great view points. The trail can get hot but there are also shaded sections as well. The trail is entirely paved and is shared use...read cyclist heavy. The signs at the trail head say this "hike" is 4.5mi (9mi total) so I don't know where the 12.2mi came from. Pay to park at the Hood River or Mosier trail heads. Note-poison oak, rattlesnakes, ticks; stay on trail and keep pets or kids out of the brush
