Nice alternative to the out and back Ridge trail, starting at the same location on the west side of the St. Johns bridge. Begin on the Ridge trail and take the fork onto the Wildwood trail to Hardesty trail. At the top of the Hardesty trail walk the unfinished forest access Oil Line road back to the top of the Ridge trail and descend to your start position.

Fun solo hike on a Sunday morning. Saw a few runners, and two small groups. I consider this on the easy side of moderate.

Did the top loop today from Fire Lane 7. Great elevation changes, glimpses of the river below, and a good workout.

Got an early start and made it to the trailhead by 6:45, parts of the trail are pretty muddy from all the rain that we have had but it is less trafficked than other parts of Forest Park. Had a little bit of snow at the higher elevations that made for a peaceful morning walk.
