early Jan around 3pm. this is a great moderate hike. the steep parts are not that steep as they are over a distance. this is winter and therefore slightly rainy and very windy and most of the trail is not covered with trees so the wind was pretty harsh. the mud wasnt too bad just a bit slippery however it didnt rain much today so that might have played a factor. nice views though when there was no trees!

A fantastic trail for a day hike. Midweek in January meant hardly any other hikers, lots of misty forests and meadows, and a bit of necessary tranquillity. The dog loved it too! We really didn’t stick to any set trail, because the options are plentiful up here. Highly recommend.

Good for taking kids and old people. On a clear Day you can see hood. There are some nice signs at the visitor center. It’s clean here safe. Good for an in town Hike.

I love this park and it’s trails. Hard to believe something this nice in the middle of Portland. Did the Mountain View then Summit Lane then the South Trail back to the parking lot. This was a great fall back hike after an aborted Angels Rest and Multnomah Falls hike. Portlanders are lucky to have this park. Salem needs to step up and have elevation hiking trails like this too.
