Today I hiked this route along with nearly every other trail in Mary S. Young State Recreation Area. I didn't rate this route as high as the others because it's kind of a weird route. It's not just the Fern Trail, but also a random section of Trillium Trail. Plus, it's a needless out-and-back when there are tons of ways to make it into a loop without adding much if any distance. It's also one of the less interesting sections of trail, especially the Trillium section that passes near the sports fields and playground.
