Really enjoyed this trail aside from the mosquitoes. It was early August and the weather was great, not too cool at night and warm during the day. We camped at one of the lakes and did the loop for a day hike. My advice would be to bring bug protection, a head net works wonders.

Great trail for some quick weekend fishing. A handful of lakes dot the loop offering some beautiful vistas as you work your way around. I did the entire loop mid-June and the mosquitos went from pretty bad to horrible; the worst stretch being between Willams and Otter Lake. It’s easy to lose the trail on that section, too so stay sharp. Plenty of birdsong to keep you company along your hike with small clearings and meadows punctuating the trail between the lakes. I’d absolutely do this trail again especially if you want a nice, quick backpack fishing trip you can do over the weekend.

Gorgeous hike. Did the entire 8.5 mile loop. The Williams lake trail still has a decent amount of snow and is hard to find in some places. But overall all the lakes are pristine and even saw a couple bald eagles at middle Erma lake!

8/11/18 No nesting eagles this year, one pair of osprey at middle lake. No mosquitos at this time. Tons of Huckleberries, both blue and red Yumm!

I visit these lakes every year but this was my earliest visit ever. Lots of fresh, clear water in the lakes which are connected by beautiful waterfalls you will pass along trail. Lots of mosquitoes in June, July and into August. Treated clothing was effective along with 38% deet lotion. Camped for 2 nights, woke up to two pairs of Bald eagles fishing and chirping in response to each other's movements around the middle of the three lakes. Awesome up close interactions with the eagles as they had no fear of humans, sometimes choosing a perch directly above my camp. Osprey nest here too, and they struggle to keep their catches from the Eagles in terrific aerobatic battles. Nearby, the 5.4 mile Irish Mt trail offers a nice view of the cascade crest. The Skookum campground at the trailhead has a bathroom (but no water) is a nice car camping option. Erma Bell lakes trail is truly a gem!

i would have given this one five stars but the mosquitoes made it pretty miserable. We took two eight year olds for their first trip. trail, hike, camping spots were perfect. we swam in the middle lake and the fish we jumping out of the water! We had 100% deet and were still eaten alive! If you time this for September it might be better? It would have been great if the mosquitoes were not in swarm mode.

Great hike with lots of Lakes to explore. I did the 8.2 mile loop which takes you to several lakes. I camped halfway through and returned in the AM. BRING THE BUG JUICE in the summer! Taylor Burn Guard Station is very close down a side trail and worth the hike and sits on a picturesque meadow so check your map!
