Very fun hike. A few trees have fallen towards the end half going to beach. The beach was fun. Lot's of surfers out today! To cold for me!!!!! Pretty steep descent to beach though.

Nice scenery! Has not been taken care of for awhile, so there are downed trees and over growth. Allot of exposed roots as well.

Nice and easy trail that comes out to a nice like cove lookout. Trail was very muddy and not maintained at this time. Probably wouldn’t be the easiest for kids right now. Otherwise was a fun walk through the overgrown PNW jungle.

Very simple hike, reminds me of a local park but it definitely has some beautiful sceneries.

Fun trail! Completed with a variety of ages ranging from 13-50 years old! In and out trail that offers an array of beautiful scenery. The beach was great too! A few mud patches along the way, but nothing you couldn’t work around :)

Trail was slightly muddy. If you had time and wanted a more rigorous hike, I would continue across the beach and onto the Cape Falcon Trail. Devil's Punchbowl is the prettiest section of this hike in my opinion.

Loved this trail! There were lots of roots and rocks so trekking poles are helpful. Very muddy, sunk in to up above my ankles in some places but it was a great trail!

A great challenging trail. Probably wouldn’t recommend for children of anyone over 65 years old who’s not athletic/conditioned. Lots of roots and very slick and muddy, so I spent most of the hike with my head down. Leads you to my favorite tucked away beach in the area.

Didn’t follow the ocean as much as we had hoped but nice little stretch of beach at the end!

Great hike. Brings you out at Short Sands. You can connect to Falcon Cove Trail from there. Lots of tree roots.

Great trail. Lots of different terrain. Dog loved it. It is fairly challenging with a lot of roots. It was muddy in the flats.

Let me begin by saying that there is a very good reason for this being a Moderate 3-mile hike. It is incredibly steep in some areas. Alternatively to the out-and-back recommendation, some in your hiking party can get dropped at one end and picked up at the parking lot for short sand beach. If it weren't obvious by now, this is not for the faint of heart. I recommend coming in with a game plan before hiking this trail.

Great hike and exercise! Great beach at the end of the trail. Cool suspension bridge. Lots of roots. I found my poles to be vital!

This trail was just perfect for challenging our two kids. they were champs and completed the entire trail. most of the fun part (trees to walk through, suspension bridge, etc) were at the end, so that helped keep us motivated. trail was well groomed and clear. very busy.

The trailhead isn’t clearly marked but we found it easily thanks to this app. The beginning section is all tall overgrown grasses and ferns. It is very narrow and you feel like you need a machete to hack through. You do see some beautiful flowers though! It then opens up into a beautiful wooded trail. Some tree roots and elevation gain. We thought the trail would lead to a lookout point but after the elevation gain, it descends rapidly with lots of tree root scrambling down to the beach area of Smuggler’s Cove. This would be a very difficult out and back hike, so we ended up catching up with another trail that led out to a different parking lot. A lot of work and intensity for no big vista view payout!

Solid trail, especially if you have not hiked in a while. It has some cool views, some elevation, a suspension bridge and a lot of vegetation. It will take you out to the Devils Cauldron view point which is cool too.

Did this over the weekend. A bit muddy. Enjoyable hike off of short sands beach. It end out at devils cauldron which is a short distance above when you come out of the forest. The lookout of devils cauldron is spectacular. It is a steep incline with lots of tree roots. Beautiful hike. This area has very little cell signal. Make sure you are not trying to meet friends as you won’t be able to communicate once you on this area of the coast.
