No bridge at the half mile mark - water was going a little too hard to be comfortable crossing unless you don’t mind being totally water logged the rest of the hike. But the area is beautiful

Trail is in good condition. A new bridge has been put in so you no longer have to ford the creek at the half mile marker where Idiot Creek trail splits off from the main trail. Idiot Creek trail is narrower than the main one but in good condition as far as I hiked. I only hiked 1 mile (2 mile round trip) in from the trailhead, so 1/2 mile on Elk Creek Trail and 1/2 on Idiot Creek Trail.

Solid trail, first time using hiking poles and they were a God spend. The second ascent is deceptive, I pushed it to prepare for more difficult hikes but be prepared for it.

Nice trail with steady climbing and then you head down hill on a old logging road

Loved this trail. GPS dropped a bit. It should have been about 7 for the portion we did. We chose not to do the loop at the top because it was starting to get a little darker. Would absolutely do this again. Once we got over the bridge, we did not see a single person!

TRAILS ARE OPEN but camping is closed. The trail was a little muddy at some spots but it had rained so... the hike to idiot creek is definitely uphill for a lot of it so be prepared! Great hike and the creek is beautiful.

Had to take a different trail as there is no way to get across the river without getting very wet. bridge is not in the water and pulled up on the other side of bank

Definitely not a hard trail. The trail itself is clear clean and the ground is relatively level with stable footing. Yes there is a good incline but it isn't calf shredding and you aren't scrambling over loose rocks or roots. Solid hike through the woods.

Love this trail! Good up hill leg work and the views of the river are great! Well maintained trail with clean toilet facilities! Hiked up from the trail head and then took a left at the trail marker (around mile 4) instead of heading up to the logging road. 1 mile later got some pretty exceptional views and wild flowes. Only saw a handful of people including ODF workers working on trail maintenance (thanks guys!)

Beautiful. Certainly not “hard” but not easy. Constant switchbacks to the front top. Incredible forest lushness, sounds, smells, mists and well maintained trail. There is no water, I brought three quarts split between myself and dog though there were a few trickle spots he got h2o from and a cooling lie down. 20 lb. pack. The last half which is all down, is a well graded compacted slightly graveled forest service road. Not that easy to walk on as the gravel is inconsistent in sized... Boring compared to the first 3.5 miles up the hill at the beginning, but still it was there so might as well. Not. One. Person, on the whole trail.
