Eel Lake Trail West is a 1.1 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Lakeside, Oregon that features a lake and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, running, and nature trips. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
When you want a tranquil and awe-inspiring, yet easy walk this trail is well worth your time. Meandering through lush forest along a portion of Eel Lake shore, you’ll find yourself stopping often to gaze at the magnificent Cedar and Fir trees, the hanging moss and the verdant ferns. Waterproof footwear is necessary in winter months and a walking stick is a good idea on some slippery sections.
beautiful, yet short. main trail shrinks to a social trail to the lake...steep at that section.
Nice little trail. Found another trail at the end but turned into a deer trail
This trail was great! It is not closed, so I’m not sure why that is noted on this trail. We took our 2 year old and she walked the whole thing, there and back. I would put on some bug spray, but they weren’t horrible. Also, hold little hands at the end of the trail. It ends at a bench and has a beautiful view of the lake. The fine sand is slippery for little ones and there’s a bit of a drop off to the water. There are 3 little bridges and everything is well maintained. Also, we were the only ones on the trail, but it was a Monday morning.
We didn't get but 100 yards in before the trail was impassable.
this is a short easy walk through large trees, ending at a pretty viewpoint with a bench. Beware of a Yellowjacket nest in the ground near the bench. And there is a family of snakes that likes to sun themselves right at the beginning of the trail that startles me EVERYTIME!
Nice short trail with lake views at start and end. Dogs allowed on leash. Picnic area at starting point.
