A Wednesday afternoon during the summer was a little crowded, but if you can break away and find the renegade trail the beach will not disappoint!

Trail closures force OCT hikers onto the access road from Ecola point TH to Indian Beach day use area. . There is water in the creek on trail to hiker/biker camp 1/10!mile north of Indian Beach.. There are several Adirondack style shelters and a vault toilet at the hiker/biker camp, NO WATER. There were some rodents visible when I shone my light into the shelters at night when I arrived so I opted for a tent site nearby. Nice secluded h/b camp

The first part of the trail has large fallen trees and the trail is CLOSED! We ended up walking towards the beach and climbing down. We walked on the beach to Indian beach and connected to the trail there. I wouldn’t recommend it for beginner hikers!!! You are better off to start at Indian beach. The trail was nice and dry though.

Another recommendation to follow this trail as far as you can. You'll get stunning views of steep cliffs and sea stacks. Watch your footing!

So even though the trail is closed, I advise you go anyways and just go as far as the trail leads you. It is closed due to erosion but if you go past the closed signs, It is breathtakingly beautiful AND dangerous so be smart. One of my favorite hikes now and I definitely recommend it.

Really enjoy this trail no matter what type of weather. Great views and some moderate elevation changes, but always something new to take in.

Although the sign says 'trail closed', we were not alone when we went anyway. We were able to go a good ways in before we thought it was too slippery to continue. Amazing views of the ocean, rocks, light house!!! This is a must for anyone visiting Cannon Beach

Absolutely breathtaking views! There are a few trails currently off limits due to erosion, but there are still a few further down by the restrooms that allow you to get some great views!

We would have given 5 stars but the trail from Ecola Point to Indian beach doesn't actually go through to Indian Beach; it stops about .25 mi short. This trail is a beautiful short walk along the coast and is dog-friendly. Also, there's a $5 fee to get into the park.

Great views of Indian beach, good for photography but trail is wrecked halfway through. You can't get to the beach from here.

Great hike. Though you cannot make it to Indian point right now you can still make it to the beach with few people.

Trail still closed but nice walk on the beach at low tide is worth it. Lot's of cool rock formations and a cool lighthouse to look at.

Absolutely beautiful breathtaking views. I went up here a few weeks ago to take some pictures as I have never been. If you like movies the restaurant from the 1980's movie "The Goonies" was filmed near the treeline here and the view of Haystack Rock from the south side of the park is where the kids pulled their bicycles over the hillside. The windy road on the drive up here is where Brand rode the little pink bicycle. Parts of Kindergarten Cop was filmed here too. A little north in the distance offshore of the pacific ocean is Tillamook Rock lighthouse. Beautiful view from the park. Was a little disappointed when I got here to find out part of the trail is closed due to erosion. Can't wait until it opens again because I want to hike it. There was a cougar sighting up here recently within the past year or so. Be careful and keep alert.

We parked on the southern end of the trail and hiked out to Ecola Point, with a nice picnic area and a full panorama of Cannon Beach, Haystack Rock and the Coast Range to Indian Beach. Absolutely spectacular view and one of most photographed on the Oregon coast. This 2-mile trail connects Ecola point to horseshoe shaped Indian Beach, and a six mile trail leads further on to Tillamook Head. The 1 mile stretch of trail between the main bluff top picnic area and Indian Beach is really rewarding, passing thru old forests with views of ocean and beaches below. This is a NOT TO MISS hike on the Oregon coast!

The trail is closed as is the road. We walked the road. Beautiful walk, mostly paved. Great views at the end and a trail down to beach.

As of February 21st 2017, the route is closed due to a landslide taking out a bridge area, making the area impassable. still great hike and scenery from the cliff tops, but no beach access.
