I went a little over a mile past tunnel falls, so I got about 16 and a quarter miles round trip. Though my cell phone battery died about halfway back. The burn area is extremely interesting, and despite the soreness my body is expressing today, I'm excited to get back out. there are a couple small stream crossings and small landslides that need to be navigated, but these should be manageable by most hikers.
Eagle Creek is back OPEN!!!! The trails are incredibly muddy and slick with some not so ideal water crossings. The crowds are a bit crazy but it's nice to see all the waterfalls again!
Really wet, lots of stream crossing. After tunnel falls trail not maintained.
Excellent trail worth waiting for. I’m glad to have made it out for the “soft reopening” period before crowds mob the trails. It was super wet and muddy today (surprise surprise haha) but navigable with good boots and trekking poles. A couple creek crossings that would be difficult to keep dry on if you don’t have poles. Made it up to the tunnel before deciding Twister Falls wasn’t worth the risky looking winding around on slick rock past Tunnel Falls. I didn’t know the parking lot was opened up now so I parked at Wahclella Falls and hiked the Gorge Trail #400 to Eagle Creek. It hasn’t seen as much love yet and had quite a few downed trees I wasn’t eager to clamber over on my way back. Glad to see almost everyone on the trail brought a face covering and used it when passing other hikers.
