My friends and I did the 41 mile Eagle Cap Wilderness Loop trail and it was stunning! There are multiple lakes and streams along the trail so water should never be an issue, and the meadows are perfect for setting up camp.
Spent a week here on two different occasions. Absolutely gorgeous area. I highly recommend it to others.
Spent the whole summer here
Wondered around here for 6 days a great spot.
Did a 50-miler up there (took 20 miles off due to time constraints) and it was absolutely stunning. By far one of the best hikes I've ever been on. My one complaint though is that on the opposite side of the lakes region over Eagle Cap, the trail isn't very well marked, probably because it's not quite as popular. If you have a GPS with you then you should be fine. Would highly recommend this trail.
My friend Matt and I hiked East Eagle to Hidden Lake camped there and Hiked up to the top of Eagle Cap. It is just beautiful! We spent four days in the area. Can't wait to hike the rest of the Mtn Lakes! Rocky and steep in spots but very doable!
The Eagle cap wilderness is one of the best high mountain trail systems Oregon has to offer. The views are spectacular and only the rugged should venture up the trail. The trail is steep in places and very rocky in others. The weather is also very unpredictable, ranging from 80 degrees daytime to morning frost on the ground in late August.
