Getting There

This hike offers something for everyone, a waterfall, a huge suspension bridge, and a lush experience of the Coast Range forest. The trail is wide and well maintained. Elevation gain is backwards; you have a nice stroll down; then you need to climb back out although the well-graded trail makes the climb fairly easy.

There are about 20 spaces and vault toilets at the trailhead, which is at a higher elevation than the falls.

Hebo Ranger District (503) 392-3161

You need a Northwest Forest Pass, which can be purchased for $5 at the trailhead.

Hwy 101 entry: Off Highway 101 south of Lincoln City, north of Salishan. Travel east on Drift Creek Road, right on South Drift Creek Road mile. Turn left onto Forest Service Road 17. Stay on Forest Service Road 17 to trailhead, approximately, 10 miles. Hwy 101/Highway 18 entry: At Hwy 101/18 junction travel east 4.5 miles on Hwy 18. Travel south on Bear Creek County Road 3.5 miles. Continue straight 7 miles on Forest Service Road 17 to trailhead.

This was so, so, so close to being a 5 star rating, but on our way back up the trail there was a stroller down in a little ravine. That aside, I would highly recommend this trail. Very beautiful scenery and the suspension bridge was awesome.

Very nice trail to cool suspension bridge and waterfall. Well worth the effort. North loop back had a lot more up and down to it to cross three ridges to merge to main trail. Trail is dry and fairly wide in most places. Parking lot about 1/2 full at noon on a Monday.

It’s a beautiful and unique hike, however even on a Wednesday morning it was so crowded. If you’re hoping for solitude this isn’t it.

HikingGreat!

Fantastic trail for family with kids. Both our kids (age 5 and 8) loved it. The suspension bridge is an experience and the falls were beautiful. Only 2-3 muddy spots but overall the trail was perfection. Definitely a car trip to get there so just be prepared for back woods type roads. We loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat.

good scenery, but hike was short and there were way too many people without masks to be truly enjoyable

A solid 2/5 Not worth it In my opinion. There are so many other trails that have less people and beautiful waterfalls to go to.. it's just not worth the drive.. I would rate it higher but it's honestly such a busy tail. WAY too many people. Practically no one wear masks or social distancing. Easy hike though. Will have to come back during off-season I guess.

Pacific wrens’ warnings echoed through the mossy forest. The falls and bridge finale made for a dramatic destination.

Very easy hike. Only a couple really muddy spots. The hardest part was the drive there. Last seven miles to the trail is a single lane with a steep decline and no guardrail. Very beautiful waterfall.

Great trail. Little muddy but hiking boots did fine. Not a ton of people but got slightly busy around 1, as I was walking back. Not bad for a Monday.

Great for occasional hikers and kids, of which we fill both categories. Took ages 7, 9, 13, and 15 out and we all had a great time. Parking lot fills up and when people park on the roadside, it's not so easy for the moving vehicles who can't pass each other. Beautiful hike though!
