Views of mount hood are great. It’s pretty strenuous especially after crossing the dog river about half way. It’s also mainly use for mountain biking. It’s also a little bit longer than indicated. Our fit bit measured 8 miles out and back.

Great winter hike when bikers aren’t present. Amazing views of Hood starting at about 3.3 miles in.

Nice and easy to get to. Pretty forest scenery with sounds of the "river" for much of the hike. I didn't see any this time of year, but it sounds like this trail may often be primarily used for mountain biking. As a hike, its closer to moderate difficulty. Note that the trail is actually much longer than shown here, and the red line representing the trail on the map here is very generalized. See the Forest Service page for more info.

Really liked this run. Starts out very steep, with a bunch of switchbacks. After the first half mile it is a nice rolling trail. The fallen trees have all been cleared. The trail is in great shape. I ran the trail on Monday afternoon and did not see a single other person. The tail is maintained by a bike club so expect to see mountain bikers. i love this trail.

Not a bad little hike! Pretty cool views at the 'top'. Lots of mountain bikers so beware if you're on foot!

We did this just yesterday. It is difficult to know when u cross the Dog River because that is a stream passing under a bridge. So we kept walking and we reached the other end of the highway. So point to point it was nearly 7 miles ie 7 miles one way. Coming back 7 miles is all the way up hill which can be very strenuous. However the trail is quite and secluded and offers some great views of Mt. Hood.

Was nice but far too many mountain bikers to really enjoy. Almost got ran off the trail 3 times from bikers zipping down the trail. I wouldn't rate this as super hard.

We did this hike as a shuttle between Dog River TH and the Zigzag TH. One way is 7 miles.

We set out to trail run this trail, the footing was fine but the steady incline caused us to do some walking. Not a whole lot to see but a pretty creek crossing and one spectacular view of Mt. Hood!
