Walked from Little Cultus Lake to Deer Lake 8/2/20. Trail head was difficult to locate due to no signage and congested areas with dispersed camping. The actual trail from lake to lake was perfect and had no bugs. There is actually a VERY poorly maintained road (4wd essential) that connects the two lakes also. Alltrails map red marking shows this road as the trail but it’s not the real trail.

Great, well maintained trail. No blowdowns or difficult terrain. Our 7 year old managed the hike well with few complaints. The trail is pretty dusty, but we had it pretty much to ourselves. There are mountain bikers, but the trail is flat enough it didn’t feel dangerous. It’s still pretty buggy, so bring bug spray. Deer Lake was pretty, shallow and warm. Perfect for younger children. Not rocky, but pretty mucky. We set up our hammock and spent several hours playing by the lake. Overall a nice, kid friendly hike.
