We hiked this on Sunday. The weather was sunny and clear. There were hundreds of climbers in this park. It seems like this is a very popular and suitable locations for climbing. The nature is quite different from the other side of the Cascades. Beautiful, huge rocks and a pretty river goes between the rocks. The trail follows the river and as you follow the trail, more scenic views come along. This trail is well-maintained and in good conditions. We tried to shortcut and scramble over some of the rocks to get back to the east side of the rocks but we couldn't. I was only possible by climbing and we were only there for hiking. So as long as you follow the river trail, there shouldn't be any problem. Parking is very big and I don't think anyone would have problem finding parking.

We hiked this past where this map ends, for a total of 5 miles round trip . On a prior trip here I hiked Misery Ridge, but we had our dog with arthritis with us, and that is way too steep for him. So we elected to stay in the canyon. I’m so glad we did. You get such great views of the rocks, including Monkey Face. Easy and mellow walking, get to see the climbers in action, too. Less crowded than the ridge trail as well, so bonus.

Nice hike to the top - short but steep. An easy climb for me but worth it. Enjoyed watching slackliners!

This was the last trail we hiked after a long vacation of hiking out in OR. Coming off a day at Crater Lake it was going to be tough to beat. Overall a decent hike. Few things, get there early because even though the temperature didn’t read that high it was unbelievably hot - with that pack plenty of water. Also, the trail down to the beginning of this one descended several hundred feet. When you have to hike that back at the end of your day it’s a little rough. Overall, completely different and unique hike.

Stunning scenery. Older folks should use poles and wear good hiking boots. the downhill sections have loose gravel. Take it slow and enjoy the views!

Easy trail to hike. Enjoyed my time with my daughters. Lots of great view points and places to stop and get in the water. Highly recommend Smith Rock! I also recommend taking more water than I did on a hot day.

Other than the initial descent (and final ascent), this trail is fairly easy. Views are amazing, and trail winds through several different micro habitats along the way. Lots of wildflowers during first week of June! Go earlier in the day before it gets too hot.

Loved it! Beautiful scenery. The initial walk down is very steep, so walking back up is, too. Otherwise, super easy and enjoyable. Smith Rock itself is so tall, it's amazing to stand at the base of it and just look up.

One of the best trails we've ever hiked! Would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. It's even worth the extra hours if you had to drive here just for this trail.

Such an enjoyable walk. You can walk a very long distance (we did 6 miles) and watch rock climbers, hikers on the other side and on the rim and upper trails. Otters, ducks, geese, fish. The rocks themselves and the Crooked River. It’s not difficult but have water and layers as the shade is a lot cooler and you can get dehydrated easily here.

Very nice and easy going trail. Wonderful views. There were many cars on the parkinglot but it didn’t feel super crowded. Would love to come back to do longer trails.

Great trail for our family! Wonderful views and walking along the river was delightful. It also had great spots to sit and enjoy the views along the way including all the rock climbing.

We started on this trail & ended up doing the entire summit loop trail. Very easy. Pretty view of the Crooked River with geese and ducks. This plus the entire loop was just under 8 miles with only one step section that didn’t last long. We brought a few snacks and water.

This trail is gorgeous. Tons of payoff for pretty minimal effort, as we say in our fam. Definitely recommend.

Magnificent views with great cliffs and beautiful river beds. Lots of places to stop and reflect and watch the rock climbers the path is relatively easy with wide and narrow areas, but not at all scary. Worth at least a half day outing.

We got there at 10:30 and parking was already almost full due to a beautiful day on a holiday weekend. I did see additional parking right outside the park if needed. It never felt crowded though as the hikers and rock climbers were pretty spread out. It was absolutely beautiful and I will definitely be back to try some different trails.
