Awesome trail, wet and gushy areas- next time wear better hiking boots.
This was a great hike, with a few good views. The trail had some soggy and muddy spots so wear proper PNW-friendly boots. The hike is longer than what was listed. My recording missed the first portion of the hike. Even with the missing section, what was recorded was still more than 2.8-- not that I was bothered.
The east side of the loop was a well maintained wide mostly gravel path but had nothing to look at other than forest. The west side was more of a narrow trail with a fair amount of mud and a couple down trees that weren't too hard to navigate. A few little viewpoints on the west side that make it worth it though.
Muddy but beautiful! Get those waterproof hiking boots out if you have them. We started on the coastal side. Muddy, muddy, muddy. Impassible maybe, if you aren’t used to hiking, have children or physical limitations. I’m an experienced hiker and had no problems with the trail. It’s a really nice mix of ocean views, lighthouse views, not too steep hills and Oregon rainforest. It was very busy on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, but I think it is all the time. The views even from the parking lot make a trip out here worth it. Four stars only because of the mud.
