Not exactly 2.8 miles. Closer to 3.5. Pretty views of cannon as well as tillamook lighthouse.

Very very muddy, my golden retriever was dark brown by the time we got down to Indian Beach. Surprisingly very few people on the trail for a Saturday afternoon.

a lovely hike in the forest, but be prepared for some mud in the rainy season

The Oceanside part of the loop offers some spectacular vistas as it meanders along the forested cliff tops. The Tillamook lighthouse is a great photographic subject, covered in sea lions and set against the wide open pacific. The inland portion of the loop is ...meh. Counterclockwise might be best as to avoid an underwhelming last leg to an otherwise beautiful walk. Moderate and steady climb outta the gates but a rewarding and mellowed finish.

Went with two kids and my uncle. I think the best part about this hike was finding the cabins, bunker and view point. Loved the foliage.

Great trail with forest and coastline views. It wasn’t very muddy, despite the rain. Moderate difficulty overall

Beautiful hike! We opted to make it an out and back hike instead of the loop. Followed the trail clockwise to Tillamook Rock Lighthouse Viewpoint and back, which made it a 3.6 mile hike. Views of the ocean and shoreline are incredible. Not crowded at all even on a day with perfect conditions like today. Hiking boots a necessity, some areas were fairly muddy and lots of rocks and roots to scramble over.

Loop trail with beauty of both forest and sea. Hiked counterclockwise and experienced lush ferns and spruce forest over first half of trail. Wife is not a regular hiker and had slight difficulty with knees going up, but overall enjoyed the hike. Views of Pacific on second half of hike were surreal. Great hike!

Definitely go counterclockwise as others suggest, so you have the beautiful views in the last half. I am in no shape at all and it took a heaving 30+ minutes to get midway. Good shade. Then downhill from there is great. There’s a quick detour to the lighthouse viewpoint. There are roots on that path, then sporadically back on the loop trail out from there. There is a bear notice from 9/6 but thankfully I did not encounter one.

Great mix of forest and ocean scenery if you do both sides of the trail. Challenging enough to make it a good workout for the day! Definitely recommend this hike.

Easy loop with pretty coastal views

Enjoyed the loop. The western side of the loop is definitely more scenic, so it was nice to take the eastern side up through the forest and then have views on the way down.

Should do out and back on the left side and skip the right. Right side is basically designed for ranger vehicles and is incredibly boring.

Really beautiful, short hike through the woods that was a moderate workout. Despite the above notice, no trail-access issues whatsoever today.

had a lot of varying sceneries. we took the left instead of going straight and got to see a bunch of gorgeous views of the ocean and then had a nice easy hike downhill to finish it up. gorgeous!
