Clatsop Butte is primarily a barkdust laid path for walking and running with wide open scenery. Many people use it for their regular exercise track. In addition to the two short loops there are also two natural, forested offshoots. One of the is a designated natural area with specific rules like no dogs. The other can be accessed by walking one block through the neighborhood to the west. The latter might not be officially part of the park, but it is a nice addition to the loop walk. Parking is available along 152nd Avenue by the park or in the nearby neighborhood. I explored every trail in the area and enjoyed it. Even though there are houses lining the park, destroying any sense of remoteness, the scenery is unique and picturesque.
