A beautiful peninsula into the Pacific Ocean with plenty of views There isn't much elevation change in this peninsula walk, just great views! You'll be hiking along cliffs 400 feet above the water below. If you are lucky and its not raining you'll be rewarded with amazing views.

Great trail, even if rainy/muddy. Was lucky that the fog cleared at the lookout, but it got foggy and rainy again on my way back. Would probably rate on the easy side rather than moderate. Only saw 3 other parties of people over the course of the two hours (it’s a rainy Friday). Make sure you wear waterproof boots!!! You will definitely want them!

Great trail. Super windy at parts and could feel the power of the ocean. But there were parts of the trail it was not as windy. The views even though we went on a rainy cloudy day were amazing. I have no regrets or reservations about doing this hike in January on a cloudy rainy day just make sure you dress appropriately

Love this hike, the views when you get out of the trees are amazing. We had some fog hugging the coast this morning with breaks of sun. A lot of roots, but makes for some muddy fun for my 7month old GSDxBorder Collie. Saw a pug and a corgie on the trail!

A little muddy for the 1/4 mile after the first lookout but fine otherwise. Super busy today compared to usual.

I expected an epic view at the top of the point. It just wasn’t that great. North trail is far better.

I’d definitely say this is more moderate than easy. Lots of scrambling over tree roots and today (nov 9) it was Very Very muddy and that made things a bit daunting. The inclines also make this not a normal “easy” hike. I would do it again, but wouldn’t say it’s easy if you’re just starting out.

The Cape Lookout trail itself features a mix of cold, damp overgrowth and warm, dirty paths near the edge. While the footpath is maintained, it can be argued that it is unkempt in spots due to intensely steep roots that cross over the path. For about 50-100 feet at a time, there will be puddles, mud, and roots to deal with before continuing down the trail comfortably. This can be a problem for those who are not prepared to be hiking. Although this is rated as easy, come prepared for hiking. The payoff will be well worth the trouble.

Great trail with awesome views on a clear day! Some muddy spots and definitely requires balance and ability to walk over roots and logs in some areas. Otherwise it was a fairly easy hike.

Fantastic, epic hike. One of the best ways to see an exquisite area of the Oregon Coast. The hike is a good mix of pretty forest areas and cliff side views that are stunning. It was a bit muddy when I went in mid-October, and was on the harder side of easy rated hikes but not too bad. I would highly recommend this trial.

went up north trail about a mile, then turned back because I became uncomfortable with the narrowness and steepness. I can't believe how beautiful this place is. I was mushroom hunting but did not find too much.

What a beautiful hike! I can't wait to do it again in the spring and summer. I will do the north and south trail (which is attached to this trail) also.

Such a beautiful hike! The views are fantastic. It is a bit rough though, don't wear flip flops like that one guy I saw. Only mild elevation changes.
