We did a 3 day, 2 night trip. Started at Marion lake trailhead. Went right at the junction and did 6.7 first day for 2000+ gain. Camped at Jorn lake first night. Area was pretty full around the lake but found a good spot with great views of Mount Jefferson. Woke up the next day and did a 6 mile day to Marion Lake. The Bowerman lake trail has been cleaned up and trees cut that were previously blocking the trail. This part of the trail is pretty exposed and a lot of the loop is through burned areas. But this allows for amazing views of Jefferson and 3 fingered jack. Camped out at Marion Lake(be careful swimming here as there is an algae watch) and hiked the last 2 miles out. If you have backpacking experience this is a pretty simple loop. Easily doable in 2 days but even more enjoyable over 3.

Whew! just got back from Day 2 on this trail. It's awesome. Found a great campsite at Jorn lake (there seem to be 3 sites there along the South shore and slightly to the east) and spent the night amongst deer and Chipmunks. Woke up to a beautiful site of Mt. Jeff & broke camp and hiked out the shorter way. We crossed paths with apprx 6 people out there, but all going the other way around. We definitely recommend going to the left when you first start the loop so you can do the Bowerman Trail first which has many downed logs that scrambling over/under with a huge pack was brutal. The hike from Jorn to Marion, to finish the loop, was easy by comparison. Great weekend backpacking trip!

we hiked in from the Marion Lake trailhead and followed the Minto Peak Trail to Bowerman Trail. lots of downed trees on Minto Peak, but gorgeous scenery. overnight by Jorn.....look for the really good campsite with the big fire ring. ;)

We hiked this loop over the weekend! still a bit of snow up near June Lake but we were able to find the trail thanks to a GPS and the tracks of another group that was ahead of us for part of the way. We went counter clockwise, quite a few people at Marion Lake but only the one other group after that. Once we got past Blue Lake the trail is very exposed. there are also a lot of down trees we had to climb over or go around. The mosquitoes were moderate at Marion Lake, but the views were amazing.

Hiked part of this loop June 1-4, 2018 - trailhead to Marion Lake via TR 3436 & 3437. Overnighted next to Marion, then backtracked to TR 3495 to get to TR 3422. Reached the pass with minimal issues other than scrambling over downed trees. Crossed the pass and reached Blue Lake where the snow really started to be an issue. Pushed on to Jorn Lake, losing the trail a lot along the way and contending with deep snow packs. Overnighted by Jorn and then backtracked as the loop trail was inaccessible due to deep snow and downed trees. Gorgeous scenery, lots of vistas viewable due to the burnt forests. Bugs were very annoying at some points on the trail in the lower elevations. Definitely recommend scrambling down to check out the falls near the start of the trail - spectacular!
