Beautiful hike, the maps took us on Andersen Creek Rd so that added an extra 45-50 mins to our drive. We tried to look up and alternate route but were unsuccessful. Luckily on our drive back we took a different, much easier route. Head towards Jacksonville, turn left on S Calif. St then turn left on S Oregon St continue on S Oregon until you come to an old mining town consisting of a 3 old wooden buildings. At the cross road turn left on little Applegate, take little Applegate for a few miles until you see sterling creek rd then continue on sterling creek for about 2.5 miles until you reach the trail head which will be on your left.

Had a great hike here, nice easy trail with a beautiful view. 2 drawbacks: 1 we came from Ashland and took Anderson road. DONT DO THIS. This added at least an extra 45 minutes onto the drive because we had to go so slow. 2 when we were done with the hike we got dropped off at a different trailhead with no sign pointing toward the parking area, and no cell reception to help us.

Well marked, easy to follow, single track trail offering nice views.
Don’t take Anderson Creek Rd to the trailhead. It’s 10+ miles of poorly maintained dirt road.
