Started at elk lake. Saw an adult bear within 1/4 mile of trailhead. Some parts of trail are in dire need of maintenance but it can be followed. There is a water source about halfway between beachie saddle and the top of mt beachie. Awesome wild flowers, views of hood and Jeff and no people. Saw as many people as bears. Not for beginners.
