Baker Cypress Botanical Site is a 1 mile out and back trail located near Prospect, Oregon and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from April until December.
Additional note: the Baker cypress is only known to grow in the wild in nine small groves scattered throughout Northern California and southern Oregon.
I counted maybe less than 10 mature Baker cypress trees along with some saplings that are part of a replanting effort. The trail is only 1/2 mile out and back, if that. It ends in a pleasant meadow, which the trees surround. The road down from the site offers an expansive view of the peaks of Crater Lake and environs. Still, it was cool to see one of the rarest conifers in the region.
