This is a more secluded area to access the beach. Problem is there are crazy homeless tweakers that will car clout you. Squatters stay there many times and hear they harassed the Snowy Plover counters that used to park out there. Keep in mind the beach is closed for the Snowy Plovers March 15th -Sept 15th.

It's a trail I hiked alone while visiting some friends. Your basic sand, dunes, and ocean. Nothing exciting, but when the weather is nice, it's better than staying home.

Nice walk to the beach trail is very narrow until you get to the beach then a lot of up and down "dunes" to get to the ocean

Best just before low-tide. Turn off of 101 isn't well marked, it just has a street sign "Baker Beach". Horse camp is at end of road. Trail passes from Baker Beach Horse Camp over the fore-dune to wide flat beach. Head North across Lilly Lake outlet stream on beach to base of cliffs below Hwy 101, interesting caves (with fishing net floats jammed high in the top by winter storms), groups of isolated rocks w pools/marine life (found Greenling and Sculpin up to 11"). At low-tide, can walk within a couple hundred yards of Sea Lion Cave entrance. From zero to a couple people at most year-round. Local resident.
