I've been hiking this trail and area for nearly 20 years. No complaints. Great trout fishing at Aneriod Lake.

hiked this trail for the first time and found it quite nice with varying terrain and great views all the way to aneroid lake. only downside is that the trail has inches of fine dust that will make you very dirty after 12 miles.

On 7.17.19 we hiked to Aneroid and back via the East Fork Wallowa River Trail in 14 miles roundtrip. No snow. The horse rental companies use this trail to the foot bridge, so you will likely see horses. The trail ascends up through a forest, above the river. Finally, where the trail splits a couple of miles before the lake, the views seem to open up a bit more. The lake itself is beautiful.

Hike out and back on June 14th 2019 5hours 50min, total distance was 14.2 miles Trail is rocky after first mile. Occassional snow fields started at mile 4. The last almost two miles to the lake were solid snow and rough going. The crust was weak so at times I sank in past my knees. Lots of water. Have good boots since creek and stream crossings will get you wet and muddy and the trail is very slick in spots. Hiking Poles were very helpful. The lake was still covered with ice, although a small portion of the shoreline had melted. There were several trees down over the trail be prepared to crawl over and under. Beautiful but probably better after the snow is gone.

The hike up was pretty nice. The views along the way were stunning, but the lake... spectacular.

Beautiful trial! Go in the early morning so you could enjoy the scenery more before you need to return down to wallowa.

Great hike, beautiful views, varied terrain. There was still some snow on the trail but it was passable with a little side stepping.

This was a beautiful hike the whole way with the gorgeous reward of Aneroid lake at the end. First two miles are steepish but after that it gently climbs. We did this on 6/22/18. Small snow patches up near the lake. The top 3 miles of the trail are ok for somewhat technical trail running. We ran down from the lake for about 4 miles but that last mile was we’re rocky.

Lovely! Very easy to follow trail, steep start to great views of wallowa lake, pretty meadows, and finally aneroid lake at the top! Really pretty this time of year (late July) and I would love to see what it looks like with more snow.
