As the name states a rough rocky trail around Robbers Cave State Park. The trail is located in a gem of a park located in SE Oklahoma. Rough Canyon trail is the namesake of Rough Canyon which runs into the man made Lake Wayne Wallace. (There are great little known but spectacular views from the top of Buzzards Roost above the lake don't miss it while in the park, it's a tough but short hike or drive to the top depending on if the gate is locked or not) The trail runs from Robbers Cave along the mouth of the Rough Canyon to a few small ponds. When full after rains there is great waterflow and waterfalls along the often dry creek. The spiral cuts and flows in the rock proove water has been at work here for quite some time. The trail then loops through the mountains and past horse trail connections and oil roads back to the cave. A great day hike and visit to the cave. Or leave out on the trail late andr bring your tent and camp at the ponds overnight.
decent little trail. There was a spot close to the end if you go clockwise that was fun to climb and had a nice rock overhang
I was unimpressed. Trail is poorly marked and hard to follow. Not scenic. Just a walk in the woods. If you live nearby, it may be worth it. I drove 3 hours one way. Waste of a nice day.
Nice trail for hiking. Lots of rocks and woods. If you go after a rain prepare to walk in water for most of the trail. Some uphill with rocks, with younger kids may be a little iffy in spots. My 4 year old managed as long as he had a hand. They say allow 2hr45min for trail. With young kid, a dog and after rain we took about 4, but we do take our time. Cave is fun at the end too.
This trail was alright for hiking. Seemed to be mostly used for horseback riding. Signs stated it was a bike trail, but I'm not sure I would bike it.
A real fun hike, lots of giant rocks to climb all over. The trip to the cave is cool too.
Decent hike. Random rock climbing.
Decent hike.... Had a lot of fun climbing all the rock formations... Went to the nearby lake to cool off afterwards.
Rough Canyon Trail was extremely rocky even for this part of the country. Still a pleasant hike through the woods. A few nice rock formations, creek with small cascades, and just nice woods.
Beautiful hike. Most of the trail follows a river so if it's hot, cool off!
