As the name states a rough rocky trail around Robbers Cave State Park. The trail is located in a gem of a park located in SE Oklahoma. Rough Canyon trail is the namesake of Rough Canyon which runs into the man made Lake Wayne Wallace. (There are great little known but spectacular views from the top of Buzzards Roost above the lake don't miss it while in the park, it's a tough but short hike or drive to the top depending on if the gate is locked or not) The trail runs from Robbers Cave along the mouth of the Rough Canyon to a few small ponds. When full after rains there is great waterflow and waterfalls along the often dry creek. The spiral cuts and flows in the rock proove water has been at work here for quite some time. The trail then loops through the mountains and past horse trail connections and oil roads back to the cave. A great day hike and visit to the cave. Or leave out on the trail late andr bring your tent and camp at the ponds overnight.

Beautiful trail today with low water levels and no mud. Trail has elevation changes and is very rocky, can also be very slick with sand. Watch the blue trail markers (there are two different blue markers that can be confusing). Recommend you start at the west trail entrance- for good instruction (we missed it)

Rocky trail throughout, so sturdy shoes are recommended. Trail is very well marked the entire way, with the exception of a detour on the east end of the loop, despite following the markers. Several spots to splash in the cool water of the creek, so we will bring the girls’ swimsuits along next time. Great hike!

This was a fun trail. Took our 6 yr old daughter and almost 5 yr old son. They had a blast. Wife slipped a couple times on the slick rocks. Definitely wear appropriate foot wear for a rocky climb. Lots of little waterfalls along the creeks and rivers, and Lost Lake was really cool.

Great trail! Creeks were full and flowing. Beautiful scenery! Clearly marked and well maintained. As others have said, the intersections with other trails can be confusing. Stick with light blue blazes. I think the dotted lines on the maps are off. Took about 1.5 hours. Will definitely do it again. Mountain trail is next.

Trail head to the left of the cave. Nevermind my tracking, app froze & didn't let me stop for 2 hours later. The first 1.5 miles is beautiful, after that we took a wrong turn in a 3 way split & had to do some backtracking. Still pretty but ended up doing 3.6 miles. If you like streams in the woods This is the trail for you just watch the map, there are a lot of crisscross trails.

Follow the light blue markers and you’re fine. It merges with another trail marked with dark blue and got a little confusing. Had two kids with us who were getting grumpy near the end but they felt great when we made it through. Would love to check it out when there is more vegetation growing.

We had such a great time today! We hiked Rough Canyon Trail, which in my opinion is a hidden gem. When I hiked Mountain Trail last Sunday, I felt like there were a couple of stretches where the scenery got a little bland...not so with Rough Canyon. If you were to break this 3-mile hike into three sections, I'd call them the Fourche Maline Section, Canyon Section, and Lost Lake Section. None of them disappoint. I feel like everybody in this area needs some time in Rough Canyon...it's beautiful!

Trail was fun and not too difficult. Markers were wrong and got lost several times. Follow the map of the trail, not the markers on the trail.

The trail is very rocky most of the way. I believe the trail is 1/2 mi longer than stated. The app told me I was going off the trail. But I had a map and compass and the app was wrong....sorta. Why it was wrong was there is a trail that shortcuts back to the west at the last trail intersection. It is kinda confusing as it shows blue and orange markers. Anyways it was a good hike but a little bit rough.

Beautiful! For a few hours I got lost in the lovely wilderness and forgot I was in Oklahoma!!! The needle-strewn path and creeks litter the path as wildflowers, butterflies, and quiet surround you. There is quite a bit of poison ivy along the trail so I highly recommend long pants. The path is also quite rocky and muddy due to recent rain, so hiking stick and/or sturdy shoes are a must, but so is this trail. loved this hike!
