Post Oak Lake to Ison's Dam is a 3.6 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Indiahoma, Oklahoma that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from April until September.
Trail is not clearly marked. Hard to find in many spots- more like following an elk trail that’s overgrown . Lots of climbing over rocks and boulders trying to locate trail. As long as you don’t mind that- it’s ok.
We could not locate the trail head, so we went to the next trail
went for trail running. ened up being hald run half scramble. was pretty fun
A friend and I hiked this trail in reverse. Started at road adjacent to old job corp area. Not much of a trail but hiking is fairly easy to Ison's dam. Once we got into Spanish canyon was more of a route than a trail with stickers and bushwhacking to get to Spanish cave. Once we exited Spanish Canyon we worked our way east back to the road rather than going to the post oak dam. I enjoy this hike, but it isn't easy. Wear long pants, good boots with tread, and gloves for dealing with the stickers in Spanish Canyon. A walking stick can reduce the likelihood of slipping or falling. A good winter day is best because of the shrubbery during spring or early fall.
There isn’t really much of a trail where I turned around. Turned into bouldering. Which is fun I just wasn’t prepared for that. Take a friend to be safe. Not really kid friendly as of right now. I would rate this more toward HARD. Nice views though.
