Done this walk many many times. One of the easiest trails I’ve ever done. It’s flat/level. It’s paved. It’s wide. Great trail and okc is lucky to have it. You are rarely around other people even on a “busy” day with this trail. Plan your bathroom stops appropriately as there is 4-5 mile section on the north and west sides with no facilities.

Nice casual, safe and easy to ride on any type bike. Didnt like riding over the damn. Too much traffic including cars. Saw dogs not leashed. Many people not wearing helmets. Nice picnic areas. Many rude riders. Runners seemed friendly. And we were on bikes. It was a Saturday. May do it sometimes during the week when Spring comes for leisure.

We went biking here. It is a paved trail on the lake. For the most part there was any shade. The trail is paved and appears well maintained. We went at roughly 5pm on a weekday and it was not busy.

I didnt walk this whole trail but people were skating, riding bikes, and walking it is very nice, no shade and the trail is about 9 miles long that goes around the lake.

This trail is great for roller skating! The north half is a bit bumpy, but very doable. The south half has such smooth trails and plenty of water fountains. Can't wait to skate it again!

Great trail for walking, running or biking! A new asphalt overlay was placed on the majority of the trail last month. Makes the ride nice and quiet. Several public water fountains on the east, south and west sides. You are on your own for water on the north side.

Nice trail, but needs some maintenance with cracks in concrete for road bikes. Mountain bikes will have no problem rolling over the uneven gaps. If you go on a windy day, the head wind facing south can be quite a challenge for the novice rider.

Great place for walking, running, biking and roller blading. So heavily trafficked it feels safe. Only drawback is lack of lighting, making it very hard to do early morning runs.

Running at the lake can be one of the best or worse places depending on the wind. If it’s remotely windy you will feel it all at the lake. I’ve ran around this lake 3-4 times a week for the last decade and it’s a nice place to exercise, sail, or go to a restaurant. I wish it had better restroom facilities, but if you really need better than a porta potty you can go to Louie’s or Lake Hefner Golf club. Lake Hefner connects to Overholser over by MacArthur and Britton and Nichols Hills on Grand on the east side of the lake.

I love walking around the wall that surrounds most of the lake. I feel safe being out in the open and there are trash cans to discard poop bags.

Awesome trail! Be warned of the wind, if it is windy. It can make your mileage feel twofold.

I travel to OKC for work pretty often and have never gotten the chance to check out the trail. Had an opportunity to stay for the weekend and Lake Hefner was top on my agenda. I was pleasantly surprised, it was a great trail, with a couple of surrounding parks to stop and take a break if you are doing the whole loop. Not a lot of cover/shade but luckily it was a great day. Then there was the Redman Triathlon going on, got a chance to cheer on some really great people.
