The best place to park is across the bridge at the boat dock. It adds about 0.3 miles to each end, but there isn’t a safe pullout at the trailhead. We hiked about 6 miles. This trail says the cutback for the medium length loop is about 5 miles in. At about three there’s what looks like a fire road that cuts a shorter loop back around. Our only complaints were that the trail wasn’t super wide (pretty rustic so not maintained) so the overwhelming amount of ticks we brushed off from the foliage was a concern. Be aware that the swinging bridge is closed, though if you’re coming from the dam end the sign is only visible AFTER you cross. It looks like there must be access at the other end of what I assume is a fire road (or county road that dead ends in the park) as there were some tire tracks and the road is clear and somewhat maintained. Overall a good hike as long as you’re aware of the challenges! Also- lots of evidence of wild hogs up top of the first ridge, lots of rooting but we never saw any.
