Crab Eyes is a 4 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Indiahoma, Oklahoma that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is best used from April until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Hiked a short distance in with our 4 kids. We had a great time, very kid friendly.
This is my favorite hike in Oklahoma. It is not marked adequately, but is easy to follow if you pay attention. Please stay on it. Don't get confused at the fork to Charons Garden Trail. Continue west across the dry creek! The scramble up to the top of Crabeyes is a must do for those that don't mind some exposure. This is also a classic Oklahoma rock climbing area. Be careful hiking anywhere on the Refuge in summertime. Rattlesnakes, copper heads, bison, and heat are all deadly.
Amazing hike. I love the varying trail. Saw some Elk and Bison on the trail.
Really like this trail. There is a part in the beginning you have to pay attention to to cross the creek and get on the actual crab eye trail, so just look at your map on here in the beginning. Pretty view when you get to the crab eyes! Went probably back in December, so trail was good. Would be muddy if it just rained or snowed though.
