A stroll down the old Katy Railroad bed and out over Lake Keystone A nice hike along the old MKT rail road bed. You can make this a short hike or a 6 mile out and back depending on where you start. There are two trail heads to choose from. Along the way you will see common NE Oklahoma trees and cedars. And great views of the Lake and Osage Hills. Lots of bird activity to be seen as well. In the Fall, Winter, and Spring you can see numerous waterfowl and wintering bald eagles! There is a short spur you can visit on the north side of the trail where you can see an old road that once served Cleveland. It is now under water from the Keystone Lake. All the way to the end of the trail you can visit an old abandoned rail bridge. Walk it on your own risk. You don't have to worry about an on coming train but a false step could really injure a leg or toss you off into the lake. Sadly they never built the trail east into the old town of Osage. Maybe one day it will be completed.
It was amazing. Peaceful. Bridge lacks some pieces so be careful!
Nice easy hike. My kids loved it! was fun taking them. Fun family hike. we start behind the apartments though.
It's a very easy trail, clean and clear of debris. The bridge at the end is nice for catching a nice breeze. Very little shade so just be careful to bring enough water on hot days.
trail head off Airport road-turn at Cedar Creek apts.
Good trail for dog-easy-flat with shade.
