Running

Saw some people’s recently posted about having to pay a fee and not being able to swim but just wanted to say that I didn’t pay a fee and there was several families swimming at “Little Niagara Falls.” There was a couple roads closed including the one that directly leads to the beginning of this trail but it’s just a short walk from the “Little Niagara Falls” parking to the trail. It’s a walking/running trail, it’s very flat and averaging it’s about 3-5 feet wide the whole time and it’s a gravel trail so there’s no way you could get lost. Highly recommend for families with small children and elderly.

With Covid most of the roads were closed, so we had to hike in off the road from the flower garden loop. Added a couple miles but was worth it because we got to see the other springs. Absolutely beautiful area, if swimming was allowed we would have taken a dip. We took our boys, 2/4y, total of 6miles they tolerated well. With closures, plan for a longer hike to get out to this trail.

Great trail for Trail Running. Nature Center has great people that work there that love the outdoors, be nice please. The first 2 small loops, Prairie Loop & Tall Oaks Loop, can be hard to get to if the stream is high. DO NOT CROSS, if water is flooding the path. They nice parts but not nearly as pretty as Buffalo Springs and Antelope Springs. Be sure to hit Antelope Springs it’s easy to bypass.

This is a good introduction to the area, and it looks great for kids! The trail is well marked, and very heavily trafficked. Stop by the nature center while you're here and get a stamp for your national parks passport book!

This is an excellent and popular trail behind the Travertine Nature Center at Chickasaw National Recreation Area. The main gravel trail is wide, shaded, and follows Travertine Creek upstream to the freshwater springs that create and feed the creek. Three looped trails diverge off of the main one, making the entire route even more scenic and beautiful. The main trail is definitely elderly and kid friendly, with restrooms and trash receptacles located about halfway through the hike, toward Buffalo Springs; however, there are no dogs or swimming allowed, so please be mindful of those rules when hiking in this area.

Took my 4 grand kids down this trail just to see who would really like to go hiking with me.. It was an easy starter hike for them. the path was nice, level and wide, and It has shell gravel as a paver. They have signs to keep you informed on exactly where you are, plus signs to inform you about the vegetation in the woods... it was a great teaching/learning experience for us..cant wait for ty he next hike...plus they have bathrooms in the middle of the trail too, came on handy with the smaller kids. Beautiful hike!!

Fair amount of traffic on the trail, but we went during the last week of summer. We didn't hike the extra loops this time, but we plan to go back to try them in the future.

Nice little hike/walk. The Nature Center was at the beginning of the trail, super friendly, and helpful staff, and Rangers. Went early Monday morning, and didn’t run into anyone else. Wish It was longer. .

The Buffalo Springs / Antelope Springs Trail is easy and I would describe it as more of a walking trail. It is a 2 mile gravel trail approximately 6 feet wide. This trail is a must for any walker or hiker because the views are stunning. I will post pictures but it is difficult to capture the beauty due to the crystal clear water. There are 3 optional trails (Prairie Loop .6 miles, Oaks Trail .5 miles, and Dry Creek Loop 1.8 miles) which can be incorporated in this hike and offer a little more challenge. The park draws a big crowd on the summer weekends, visit on a weekday if your schedule allows.

Hiked this with my son on a rainy summer weekend. Loved it. Very kid friendly and easy hiking. Beautiful scenery. Options for different routes to make it shorter or longer. Woods, ponds, creeks, small waterfalls, springs. Fun all the way through.

Easy trail to walk, but the trail map was pretty confusing at times. I recommend taking the short loop trails for some of the prettiest views and lovely flowers.
