The Beaver Lodge Trail is a one-way trail. It DOES NOT loop back to the trail head. You can start it either below the hydro-electric dam or just below the spillway. This is a wide trail except for a short section which connects area that suffered flood damage. It is recommended that you follow the wide, flat, trail until it becomes too narrow and/or steep for you. At that point, turn around and come back the way you came. The trail follows the spillway run-off creek. As you walk this trail, you will usually hear the sound of rushing water.

Views of the river are beautiful, but the trail itself is hard to follow at times. There’s no signage along the way, just a few pink markers. It’s rated easy but I would say it’s moderate - there are some steep and rocky places.

This trail is now gone due to the massive flood. If you go down to the river and take a right there is a new trail that I recommend. It’s not really marked but it’s easy to follow. There are some pink trail ribbons once in awhile.

We got to the water and there was no way to cross. Even if we did forge across the river there was no sign of a path on the other side.

Couldnt find any signs or anything ended up taking a hike through the woods and I don’t think it was a trail at all. There were orange flags tied to trees every 30 or so feet but pretty sure we weren’t on this trail.

Great trail, although much steeper in places than anticipated (we hiked the North side of the river). Several points where our 12- and 14-year old (not inexperienced) kids had to 'hang on' to traverse a few ledges. Wouldn't recommend for the young or old. Beautiful scenery along the Mountain Fork River.
